The Migration Department manages all things related to the migration process and establishing residency in Lithuania.
The Migration Department offers an array of services geared toward the following groups of foreigners:
Citizens of the EU and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries and family members of the aforementioned, or anyone else who has been granted the right to free movement within the EU can stay in Lithuania for up to 3 months without the need for any type of residence permit. However, those that fit into the above-mentioned categories but live in Lithuania for more than three months within a six-month period must apply for a certificate confirming their right to temporary residence in the country.
Non-EU citizens who intend to stay in Lithuania for up to 90 days in a 180-day period must have a Schengen Visa if they are not subject to a visa-free regime.
If you intend to stay in Lithuania for more than 90 days within a 180-day period, you must acquire a national visa or a temporary residence permit.
Individuals who have lived in Lithuania for more than 5 years may be eligible to acquire a permanent residence permit.
