About this workshop  

Taking advantage of Vilnius’ enviable work-life balance is one of the many perks of living in Lithuania’s capital. This workshop is designed to give recently relocated foreigners – or those thinking of taking that step – a thorough introduction to navigating the job market in Vilnius. Get tips on how and where to look for a job, self-employment options and legal matters, and learn from the experience of a foreigner who has already gone through the process – all in one informative how-to session.

13:00-13:15 Getting Started with Your Job Search 

Join an expert from Lithuania’s Employment Service to discuss the entire job-search process, including the employment landscape for foreigners, how and where to look for a job, how to prepare a CV, finding a job if you don’t speak Lithuanian, the support the Employment Service offers to job seekers and more.   

13:15-13:30 Employment Options for Highly Qualified Talents 

An expert representing the Work in Lithuania initiative will provide an overview of the job market in Vilnius for highly qualified candidates. This will include an introduction to the main industries and companies hiring foreign talent, tips and tricks to enhance your job search, advice about building an attractive LinkedIn profile and more.   

13:30-13:45 Self-Employment 

An expert from Enterprise Lithuania will cover all things related to self-employment in Lithuania, including the options and processes that needs to be followed to declare yourself as self-employed, the different types of self-employment certificates (individual activity vs. business licence) as well as applicable taxes and social insurance contributions that apply to those who are self-employed.   

13:45-14:05 Legal Regulation of Labor and Business Immigration  

This part will be held by Svetlana Naumcik, associate partner of the law firm ILAW LEXTAL. She will talk about the employment of foreign citizens in Lithuania, business immigration, obtaining a residence permit, including work permits / Blue cards, the possibility of transferring family members to Lithuania.

14:05-14:35 Learn from the Experience of Others 

Our foreign friend living in Vilnius will talk about his own experience of navigating the job market in the city. From finding a job to working for a company in the city, you’ll get a perspective that is relevant to your situation and be able to draw from his story.
